Records you must keep

Restorers must maintain all documents required by federal, state, provincial and local regulations.

General project documentation

  • Written work authorisation or contract
  • Details of water intrusion — source, intrusion date, discovery date
  • Scope of work and work plan
  • Activity logs, estimates, invoices and bills
  • Notes on limitations, complexities or conflicts
  • Records validating the drying process and completion criteria, such as drying goals
  • Verification of equipment and material usage on the job

Use of chemicals (antimicrobials)

  • Client informed consent required before application
  • Provide product info label and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on request
  • Maintain records for each use — type, quantity, dilution ratio, method, location and time
  • Inform clients about product safety, effectiveness, and any evacuation requirements for people or pets
