Categorising contents
The type of service required for each item can be categorised as follows.
Restore
Items that can, if required, be dried, cleaned, resurfaced and returned, if an acceptable final condition is achieved.
Dispose
Items with no restoration requirement. This could be because the owner has no interest in restoring it, or the value does not justify the cost of restoration.
Preserve
Contents that are irreplaceable but cannot be properly restored to an acceptable final condition.
It is important to involve all materially interested parties and consider input from specialised experts, especially for high-value items, when deciding whether to restore or dispose of contents.
