The hierarchy of control
Every hazard on a water job gets worked through the same order. Top of the list is the strongest control. Bottom is the weakest.
Most effective:
- Physically remove the hazard. Move the contents. Turn off the electricity.
- Replace the hazard.
- Isolate people from the hazard.
- Change the way people work.
- Wear appropriate PPE.
Least effective.
