RPE types and standards
Recommended types of RPE
- NIOSH-approved N-95 face pieces
- Full-face air-purifying respirators (APR)
- Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR) with P-100 filters
- Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines, instructions and warnings.
AS/NZS 1715 standard
- RPE must be fit-tested before use and annually thereafter.
- Fit testing is required when facial characteristics change.
- Fit testing procedures are outlined in AS/NZS 1715.
- Follow manufacturer instructions for specific equipment.
